About David Montoya – In-Home Drum Lessons in the South Bay

Hi, I’m David Montoya, a passionate drum instructor and live sound engineer based in the South Bay Area. With over 15 years of drumming experience and a background in guitar, bass, and piano, I bring a well-rounded, musical approach to every drum lesson.

As a self-taught drummer, I’ve spent years developing a unique teaching style that makes learning both fun and effective. I’ve been teaching beginner to intermediate drum students for the past 5 years, and I specialize in breaking down drum beats in a way that’s easy to understand—while still emphasizing the importance of reading music and developing strong listening skills.

Whether you're just picking up your first pair of drumsticks or looking to sharpen your rhythm and technique, my focus is to help you or your child grow as a confident, skilled drummer—all from the comfort of your own home.

In addition to teaching, I’ve spent the last 7 years working as a live sound engineer for weddings, private parties, and corporate events, mixing for venues like the Queen Mary, Petersen Automotive Museum, and Ritz Carlton.
