Is it too late for me to learn drums? Am I too old?
Not at all. I’ve taught adults in their 40s, 50s, and beyond—including complete beginners. It is never too late to start. If you’re excited to learn, I’ll help you work toward your goals at a comfortable pace.
Are there age restrictions?
Lessons are available for students ages 6 and older. If you are unsure whether your child is ready, contact me and we can discuss the best option.
Do I need a drum set to get started?
No. A beginner can start with drumsticks and a practice pad. When the time is right, I can help you choose an acoustic or electronic drum kit that fits your home, budget, and goals.
Do you offer a trial lesson?
Yes. I offer a 30-minute introductory lesson at 50% off, so you can experience an in-home lesson before committing to an ongoing weekly time. Contact me to schedule.

What styles of drumming do you teach?
I teach rock, pop, funk, blues, metal, jazz, and other styles. Students are encouraged to bring favorite songs into their personalized lesson plan.
What do we focus on during lessons?
Every student’s plan is personalized, but lessons commonly include:
- Technique and stick control
- Timing, rhythm, and coordination
- Reading drum notation
- Songs the student wants to learn
- Creative fills and grooves
- Listening and ear training
How long should I take lessons?
Students usually make the strongest progress through consistent weekly lessons. There is no single required length of study; I adjust the lesson plan as the student’s interests, abilities, and goals develop.
Can lessons work with electronic drums?
Yes. Lessons work with acoustic and electronic drum kits. Electronic drums can be especially convenient for families who need lower practice volume or headphone capability.

Travel is included in the lesson price. Ongoing lessons are billed monthly in advance.

What to expect after registering.
Can I choose my lesson time?
Yes. We will find an available weekly lesson time that works with your schedule.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice when you need to reschedule. When that is not possible, I will do my best to offer a makeup time or extend a future lesson.
How do I pay for lessons?
Lessons are billed monthly in advance. Payment can be made through Square—in person or using a secure invoice—or through Zelle. Payment details are provided after registration.
