Hi, I'm David Montoya — a passionate in-home drum teacher and live sound engineer based in the South Bay. With over 15 years of drumming experience and a background in guitar, bass, and piano, I’ve built a unique and approachable teaching style that works for students of all ages.

I’ve been teaching drums for over 5 years and specialize in working with beginner to intermediate students. Whether you're just starting out or trying to tighten up your technique, I break things down in a way that’s simple, musical, and fun. Reading music and developing listening skills are a big part of what I teach, but making sure you enjoy the process is just as important.

What makes my lessons different? I come to you. My in-home drum lessons are tailored to your schedule, your space, and your goals. You don’t even need a drum kit to start — just a practice pad and a pair of sticks.

In addition to teaching, I’ve spent the last 7 years working as a live sound engineer for top venues like the Queen Mary, Ritz Carlton, and Petersen Automotive Museum — and I bring that same real-world musicality into every lesson I teach.
